Intro to Don't Kill The Messenger
Hello,
Thank you for exploring Don't Kill the Messenger. This is an Idle Tower Defense Game inspired by medieval art and stories. The king has locked is daughter in a tower until he find a worthy (and wealthy) match. Princes from near and far send proposals every day. The maid (bow), gardener(trowel), and cook (pan) unite to turn back these feathered fiends. Non-lethally, of course.
You can click on the chest in the lower left hand corner to open the upgrades, then click the symbols of the maid, gardener and cook to navigate to their specific upgrade tree.
A brief overview of the upgrades:
Maid:
Damage: increases the damage the blunted arrows do.
Draw (Draw Rate): increases the speed the maid can draw and loose arrows
Knock back: pushes the messengers back as well as damaging them.
Range: Increases the range of attack.
Gardener:
Gather: Increase the tokens gains from each messenger downed.
Distract (Distraction): Increases the amount of time the king with spend wandering before deciding to check the proposals.
Picky (Pickiness): Increase the kings standards when considering proposals, lowering the chance of a Royal Messenger spawning.
Boon % (Boon Chance): Increases the chance of earning a boon when sending back a messenger.
Cook:
Burn (Burn Rate): Increases the speed at which the Cook can burn the proposals, lowering the chance of a Royal Messenger spawning. You earn 1 token for every proposal burned.
Bounce % (Bounce Chance): Increases the chance of a projectile bouncing after hitting a messenger.
Bounce # (Bounce Amount): Increase the number of times a projectile can bounce.
Boons are awarded by chance or whenever a Royal Messenger is downed and also increase your stats.
Royal Messengers become more difficult based on the number of days passed, the number of proposals at time of spawn and how many Royal Messengers you've downed in a single run. This game doesn't have a health bar: the Royal Messengers are both a boss and the end game. If they escape, you lose the game, and have to start the run over.
After the end of the run, you will earn dowry which can be spent in the main menu upgrade page to buy permanent upgrades.
